Diego Pesce
Biography
Diego is a highly accomplished, passionate and self-motivated swim coach and former Uruguayan National Swim Team member with over 8 years experience coaching at various levels including Youth National, Age, Intro and Developmental.
A native of Uruguay, Diego Pesce has been swimming since age six. By age 8, he was swimming competitively and at sixteen was selected to the Uruguayan National Team. From 1983 to 1987, Diego held the National Record for the 100m and 200m Backstroke. In 1985, he competed in the South American championships placing top 10 in both the 100m and 200m backstroke.
After immigrating to Canada in 1990, Diego returned to his passion for swimming in 1998 when he began his Canadian swimming career as an instructor for the City of Toronto. In 1999, he began coaching for NYAC (North York Aquatic Club) where in 2003 he was nominated for a 3M Coaching Canada award. With his focus on 12 and under swimmers, he was soon promoted to Head Age Group Coach responsible for providing program content, guidance and direction to the other NYAC Age and Intro Group Coaches as well as the Waves Coaches. In 2007, Diego began coaching for the Dorado Stars Swim Club where he was responsible for the Age Group in devolpmenting Senior level swimmers.
Diego’s athletes have had great successes from qualifying for Canadian Age Group Nationals to placing swimmers in the top 8 in Canada in their respective age groups.
With an emphasis on technique, Diego brings excitement and energy to the pool deck, always encouraging his athletes to set their goals high and give 100 percent.
